Catizen (CATI) is a crypto token that powers a cat-themed social entertainment platform on Telegram, where players build a virtual cat city and earn rewards through gameplay without leaving the messaging app. Built on The Open Network (TON), Catizen has grown from a single game into a hub of around 30 mini-games and Web3 apps, per the company's last public count in January 2026. Its publisher, Pluto Studio, reported around 25 million players in its first months, though Catizen's own site now advertises a much smaller active base of 12 million-plus gamers and over 700,000 on-chain users.

At the time of writing (August 2026), CATI trades near $0.0456, with a market capitalisation of roughly $20.6 million and a rank of #608 on CoinMarketCap. Beyond speculation, CATI has practical utility across in-game purchases, staking, Launchpool, and governance within the Catizen ecosystem, and for travellers who already hold CATI or other cryptocurrencies, Epic, the crypto-friendly travel platform published alongside this blog, lets you book hotels and flights and, according to Epic, save up to 30% compared to Booking.com and Expedia, with a $25 discount on your first trip upon sign-up.

What Is Catizen?

Catizen is a social entertainment ecosystem on Telegram that combines casual gaming with the TON blockchain. In the core game, players collect and merge cats to develop a virtual cat city, described by the project as the "Meowverse", where a more advanced collection generates more in-game income. According to the official Binance Labs announcement, Catizen leverages Telegram's user base to introduce a broad audience to Web3 through interactive mini-games and mobile payment options.

Catizen is published by Pluto Studio Limited, a GameFi publishing platform on Telegram and TON. Pluto Studio incubated Catizen as its flagship title, launching the open beta in March 2024. Reported by co-founder Ricky Wong via The Block in mid-2024, the project had grown to around 25 million players, around 1.5 million on-chain gamers, and over 500,000 paying users at that point. These are developer-reported figures from 2024 and are not independently verified.

The project has attracted institutional backing. Pluto Studio raised a $2.2 million seed round and a $4 million strategic round with HashKey Capital and The Open Platform (TOP), before Binance Labs invested in a further strategic round announced in July 2024, according to The Block and Cointelegraph. Catizen won The Open League Application Battle in Season 3, confirmed by The Open League's official channel, and reporting in August 2024 credited it with topping TON app rankings for a fourth consecutive season.

How Does Catizen Work?

Catizen runs as a mini-app inside Telegram and settles on-chain activity on TON. CATI is issued as a Jetton, TON's fungible token standard, and functions as the ecosystem's governance and utility token, as stated in the official whitepaper. Players earn in-game rewards through gameplay, and CATI can be traded on centralised and decentralised exchanges.

The token has a fixed total supply of 1 billion, which the whitepaper states will never be increased. According to the official tokenomics documentation, the allocation is 43% to airdrops and ecosystem (34% airdrop, 9% Launchpool), 20% to the team, 15% to the treasury, 10% to investors, 7% to advisors, and 5% to liquidity.

The team, investor, and advisor allocations are fully locked at launch, with a 12-month cliff and a 48-month linear release. The treasury unlocks 10% at the token generation event, with the remainder on the same cliff-and-linear schedule. The full unlock schedule extends into 2029.

Beyond the core game, Catizen operates a Game Centre and Launchpool where users can stake CATI or in-game assets to earn rewards. In August 2025, the team launched Catizen Play, and it has said since mid-2025 that it is building Catizen Chain, a TON Layer 2 designed for gaming.

That chain has not yet been confirmed as live. According to the project, the Catizen Play platform lets traditional Web2 game developers add blockchain features, uses verifiable random functions for fair play, and records in-game items as tradable NFTs.

In January 2026 Catizen announced a broader strategic shift, stating that it is "going all-in on AI" and is "not just a game center anymore" but is building an AI ecosystem spanning an AI game centre, AI agents and AI-assisted trading. Products announced under that banner include Cati Agent and Catrix, an AI trading platform. The shift is recent and the products are early, so their traction is not yet established.

Top 5 Ways to Use CATI

1. Book discounted hotels and flights with CATI on Epic

Epic travel platform hotel search interface

One of the most practical ways to spend CATI outside the game is booking travel through Epic. The platform provides access to more than 2 million hotels and flights across 190+ countries, and you can pay with 200+ cryptocurrencies.

Book your next hotel for up to 30% less

The best part? Epic offers savings of up to 30% compared to Booking.com and Expedia on hotel and flight bookings. New users also receive a $25 discount on their first booking.

2. Buy and upgrade in-game items

The core use of CATI is spending it within the Catizen ecosystem. Players use CATI to buy and upgrade cats, unlock premium features, and enhance their gaming experience, as set out in the project documentation. Token consumption also removes tokens from active circulation, and the team reported that more than 50 million CATI had been consumed across Catizen in the first half of 2025; no full-year figure has been published.

3. Stake CATI and join Launchpool

CATI holders can stake tokens through Catizen's Launchpool to earn rewards from projects launching within the ecosystem, a route to earn beyond direct gameplay. Note that no new Launchpool round has been publicly announced since 2024.

4. Vote on governance and unlock holder perks

CATI is the governance token of the Catizen ecosystem, and the whitepaper states that holders can participate in key governance votes. The team has also added holder-specific features: on 18 June 2026 it introduced the Catizen OG Chip, a perk that CATI holders can unlock in ClawQuest Agent Mine, a third-party Telegram game on TON, by connecting their TON wallet.

5. Trade CATI on exchanges

CATI launched via Binance Launchpool in September 2024 and trades on major centralised exchanges including Binance, LBank, Deepcoin, OKX, Bybit, BTCC, WhiteBIT, KuCoin, Bitget, MEXC and Gate. Per CoinMarketCap on 13 August 2026, CATI records approximately $6.65 million in 24-hour trading volume, with a Volume/Market Cap ratio of around 32%.

Is CATI a Good Investment?

Whether CATI is a good investment depends on your risk tolerance and view of Telegram-based gaming adoption. The documented strengths include tier-one backing from Binance Labs (now YZi Labs) and HashKey Capital, a large developer-reported user base, real in-game revenue, a live product with a hub of around 30 titles, a fixed token supply, and a CertiK Skynet score of 85.78 out of 100 displayed on CoinMarketCap.

Note that this is an automated monitoring score, not an audit: CertiK's own page for Catizen states "Not Audited By CertiK" and records no third-party audit either. The weaknesses are also documented. Per CoinMarketCap on 13 August 2026, CATI trades approximately 96.5% below its September 2024 all-time high of $1.29, and reached a new all-time low of $0.03232 in July 2026.

These market figures follow CoinMarketCap; other aggregators use different circulating-supply estimates, so a cross-check elsewhere may show a different market cap. Only around 45% of the total supply is in circulation, and team, investor, advisor, and treasury unlocks continue on a linear schedule into 2029, which adds ongoing supply.

In December 2025, the team publicly attributed unexpected CATI appearing on exchanges to a multi-signature wallet upgrade rather than unscheduled unlocks, though parts of the community initially read it as early unlocking. The tap-to-earn sector has cooled since its 2024 peak, and Catizen competes directly with other TON gaming tokens, including Notcoin, Hamster Kombat, and DOGS.

The game line-up has also been contracting: Throne of Ashes was taken offline in February 2026, and Mafia Boss, Fantasy Tower and Dragon War all shut down in April 2026. Several roadmap items remain unproven at the time of writing, including wider Catizen Chain adoption and a stated Q4 2025 goal to have CATI held in a listed company's treasury; in November 2024 the team also publicly committed to launching more than 300 new games by the end of 2025, and the Game Centre stood at around 30 titles at the start of 2026.

The project's public documentation has also not kept pace: the whitepaper is still at version 0.2.2 with its analytics page frozen at August 2024, the published roadmap ends at Q4 2025 with no 2026 roadmap, and no annual report was published for 2025 despite one being published for 2024. Reported user figures are self-published by the developer and are not independently verified.
